Someone to hold your place in the NIMC queue
The enrolment is free. The four hours standing outside are the price, and they are the part somebody else can do. A runner holds the place and calls you when the line is nearly at the desk.
Enrolment is free. Anyone charging you for it is not NIMC
NIMC has said it repeatedly: enrolment for a NIN is free, and the commission does not charge or authorise anyone — including its own Front End Partners — to charge for it. The fee you pay a runner is for their morning in the queue, and it has nothing to do with the enrolment.
If you are correcting an existing NIN, there is no queue to send anyone to
NIMC moved modification to the self-service portal in October 2024 and closed it at physical centres. Names, dates of birth and phone numbers are changed online and paid through Remita. So there is nothing to queue for, and a runner would be no use to you. Check the current charge on the portal before paying anything — reported figures differ wildly between sources and we will not print one here.
What the person enrolling needs to bring
This is for you, not the runner, because you are the one who will be at the desk. Bring proof of identity or a birth certificate. A minor needs a parent present, the parent's NIN, and the child's birth certificate or age declaration. Confirm the list against NIMC before you travel — requirements move, and a wasted queue is the whole thing you were avoiding.
How the errand actually runs
Nothing complicated, and you can watch it happen.
- Post it with the centre, the time it opens and a fee. There is nothing to buy, so there is no spend ceiling.
- The fee and the platform fee are held from your wallet. Nothing goes live unfunded.
- The runner checks in from the line — location and a photo — so you can see where the queue has got to.
- They call you when you are near the front. You arrive for the biometrics.
- At the handover you type their 6-digit code and the fee is released.
Questions people ask
- Can I pay someone to do my NIN registration for me?
- No, and nobody honest can offer that. Enrolment captures your fingerprints and your face, so you have to be there for it. What you can pay for is somebody holding your place in the line until it is nearly your turn.
- Is NIN enrolment free?
- Yes. NIMC states that enrolment is free and that it does not authorise anyone, including its Front End Partners, to charge for it. If somebody at a centre asks you for money to enrol, that is not an official fee.
- How much does a NIN queue errand cost?
- You set the runner's fee — a four-hour queue is worth more than a short one, and the runner decides whether to take it. On top of that the platform fee is the greater of ₦200 or 15% of the fee. With nothing to buy there is no spend ceiling, so that is the whole cost.
- Can a runner correct the name on my NIN?
- There is nothing to queue for. NIMC moved modification to its self-service portal in October 2024 and closed it at physical centres, so corrections are done online and paid through Remita. Check the current fee on the portal.
- How do I know they are really in the queue?
- Every check-in carries evidence before the next one unlocks: where they are, a photo, a timestamp. You watch it from the app rather than taking their word at the end.
Where this can be run today
Runners are on the ground in Ibadan and Lagos. Everywhere else the board is open and empty, so an errand posted there waits for a first runner.
